And just like that midnight came and went and the competition closed. The number of entries has astounded us and we would like to thank everyone who has supported Paragram by entrusting their poetry to our first Poetry Prize competition. Your work is now done and ours begins.
The entries will now be gathered and sent to our judge Adrienne Dines who will prepare first a long then a short list. From the short list, will come our three first places.
The book will be published by Paragram in partnership with Four Point Press will contain all the short listed poems and will be available in time for Christmas. It will be stocked by ‘The Book Shelf’ an on-line bookshop at www. behindthehighstreet.co.uk as well as Amazon and other on-line book outlets. We would like to include work from as many poets as we can so if your poem does not make it to the short list, do not despair as it may be that we will ask you for permission to include a line or two from your poem to add to a feature article of ‘words we could not bear to leave out’.
We are currently investigating exciting venues for the reading event at which all poets in the short list ( and maybe long list, space permitting) will be invited to read. For ease of transport links this will be a central London venue. We are aiming for a March date and hope that many poets who didn’t enter this time or perhaps only found out about Paragram too late to enter our competition this year will come along and join the performers in what promises to be a sizzling event.
We will keep you updated on progress here on the Paragram blog so make sure you are following.
