The time has come to reveal the names of our ‘Spotlights’ poets for 2015. These are the poets who entered the Chapbook Challenge and whose poetry we just have to publish.

One of the questions the editors at Paragram are often asked is, ‘How do you choose the winning poems?’ Some poems just leap off the page and refuse to be ignored…it is from these that winners are usually chosen. This year was no exception.

There can only be one winner and this year it was the writing of Peter Taylor with his short collection entitled ‘Perspectives from an Open Heart‘ which took the prize. His chapbook will be published by Paragram Press towards the end of this year.

There were many outstanding poems among the entries and we are proud to publish these in this year’s Paragram anthology – ‘Spotlights’.

Marilyn Hammick and Smita Kumar, who were shortlisted alongside Peter Taylor, are featured in ‘Spotlights’ as well as selected poets whose writing the editorial committee hand-picked from the entries:

Ian Colville
Bryan Darby
Judy Dinnen
Bob Elvis
Susan Evans
Sara Khorasani
Gillian Malster
Connie McChesney
Bridget McLaughlin
Polly Robinson
Aileen Shirra
Penny Shutt
Charlotte Stevens
Sarah Stutt
Miriam Sulhunt
Robin Thomas
Joanna Tulloch
Leland James Whipple

We plan to launch both the anthology and the chapbook  in London on Friday 4th March 2016 at the Poetry Cafe in Betterton Street, Covent Garden. This is the home of The Poetry Society in London and is a perfect venue for this special event.

We are hoping that as many of our Spotlights poets as can possibly make the journey will be there to read their work and join us in a celebratory glass of wine (or two). If we have time we will also have an open-mic event for those in the audience who have writing to share.

In the meantime we offer our congratulations to all our Spolights poets -well done – well done – very well done to you all!
